Monday's Cup-o-Joe: A Sunday Well Spent

If I could have a perfect week, it would include outfit selection before 8am, Sunday grocery shopping with purpose, and a completed to-do list every. single. day. A girl can dream, right? Although many of these things usually don't happen every single day, there are steps you can take to achieving any goal that you have! Are ya'll ready for the secret ingredient to a successful week?

PLAN! Plan everything. Write it down. Kill those trees with your post-it notes, planner pages, or old bank statements. Use Sunday to make your POA (plan of attack) and include things like picking at least 3 outfits for the week, 3 meals to cook, and 3 things that you've been procrastinating. Stick that paper on your fridge, your bathroom mirror, your laptop...wherever it will be in plain sight! If you haven't heard the old saying, "a Sunday well spent brings a week of content," I can confirm that it is very true. Remembering this simple sentence saves me hours and hours of staring at my closet waiting for a miracle and many moments of hanger where I regretfully resort to another grilled cheese for dinner. While I would like to say that I practice "well spent" Sundays every week (and I do not), here at LbS we're all about trying again. So, week, I'm trying again!

Monday:

- Outfit chosen.
- Dinner planned.
- Yoga flow selected.

Moving on.

Cheers,

Weekend Musings: Good Friends + Good Laughs

After a long week, typically I just want to lounge around my apartment and practice surfing the channels. This weekend, though, I had other ideas in mind--the cure for anything really is good friends and good laughs.

Friday night was spent lounging with my Big sister, her boyfriend, and fluffy pup, eating homemade pizza and Netflixing. Saturday involved lots of laughs and drinks with one of my best friends and her boyfriend (notice the theme here...3rd wheel...). We had a delightful time. It was so nice to remember what it feels like to carpe diem! The sky was blue and my glass stayed full.

Today was mostly slow with lots of h2o (one too many Pear drinks I suppose).

Cheers to happy memories, because there's no limit to those,

Vulnerability in the New Year

I'm not sure I will ever experience a year so full of change as I did in 2014, and while change can be (and usually is) welcomed in my life, there was a limit that was far exceeded in my not so humble opinion. So let me just throw this out there and say HALLELUJAH for 2015 finally showing its face through the clouds. This post will not include a detailed summary of all the things I learned, achieved, battled, loved, and lost because that would just turn me into a crazy lady going on for hours. So let's just cut to the chase, huh?

Brene Brown's The Power of Vulnerability is a particular favorite TED Talk of mine. As I look back on the past year and envision the future, the concept of vulnerability is a perfect way to understand the place that I was and the place I hope to stay. While I happily bid farewell to the lows, it would be unfair to say they weren't opportune moments where my eyes became clearer and my heart a little stronger. This is what Brown describes in her TED Talk as being the cultivating moment where we as humans can reach our deepest potential--when we practice courage, compassion, authentic connection, and ultimately, vulnerability.

To allow vulnerability into your world and to open yourself up to criticism, change, love, movement, and unpredictability will not lead you a place of darkness, rather, one of so much meaning and joy. For the next 12 months I want to continue embracing the questions and opening myself up to the answers. What about you?

Cheers to another year,

SRS
